About Us

We believe in the power of sustainable living and the magic of alpaca fiber

In 2021, Dave and Nicole founded Prema Alpacas on a 47-acre stretch of untouched land. Embracing an off-grid and remote lifestyle, they cultivated resilience by mastering a range of skills—from constructing their own buildings to expertly handling alpaca fiber. Their farm operates sustainably, harvesting solar energy, collecting rainwater, and managing waste on-site.

Nicole, a certified permaculture designer, was determined to process the alpaca fiber herself, staying true to permaculture principles. She began by hand-spinning yarn and soon discovered her passion for wet felting—a craft she now practices daily. Every piece of fiber is hand-washed and felted using rainwater collected from their rooftop. Wastewater is repurposed to nourish their fruit trees, and any unused fiber is creatively recycled as garden mulch or insulation, minimizing waste and maximizing sustainability.

As Nicole honed her fiber arts, Dave focused on cultivating a high-quality herd. Today, Prema Alpacas boasts around 70 alpacas and 20 sheep, bred for exceptional fiber quality and color diversity, including rare and unique patterns.

Sacred Alpaca was born from this labor of love, offering hand-felted luxury items crafted by Nicole and premium alpaca products produced in collaboration with a local cottage mill. Each product reflects their commitment to quality and sustainability. You’ll also find unique, hand-crocheted creations by their daughter, Tatum.
